“If you’re not growing, you’re dying.” – Tony Robbins

One of the only constants in life is change. This is seldom as true for other industries as it is for marketing.

There is always more to learn, always something to relearn, and always tools or hacks to make our lives better in some way.

In this, the 52nd weekly issue of The Agency Overhaul Newsletter, I’m sharing a list of some of the best resources and tools I’ve come across to help hone my perspective and understanding of the world, the people in it, and how to market to them.

I’m going to keep the writing to a minimum and the value to a maximum.

I’ve organized this list by medium (with tools as a separate category) so you can find the way you learn the best and dig through the list for anything that resonates.

Also, I’m not going to list audiobooks. While I listen to more than I read, I’ll just list them as books and you can look them up on your favorite audiobook platform. In most cases, there’s an audiobook version of the books I list.

Lastly, if I like a particular tool or resource for something specific, I’ll list that (in parentheses) after the tool or resource.

Enjoy the list and feel free to respond with your recommendations.

Summary

You may have noticed that this is a relatively short list.

One thing I learned a long time ago while voraciously devouring every bit of content I could from everyone on the planet, is that you should limit your inputs.

I have learned so much from so many sources over the years that I virtually crippled myself for years with too many options.

If you really want to succeed in running an agency, it helps to have a wide variety of knowledge and perspectives, but only when you’re up and running so you can apply what you learn to your own business.

When you’re first starting out, you’ll spend all your time learning and it’s hard to take action when you don’t know which path to take.

Everyone promises that their way is the best, but there’s no perfect way to start or run an agency.

In all actuality, you just need to pick a market with a problem you can solve, have conversations with them about solving it, charge them to solve it, rinse and repeat.

However you do that, getting started is the main hurdle.

Growth comes from learning and applying what you learn to what you’re doing. Sometimes you’ll pivot, sometimes you’ll make minor tweaks.

My hope is that these tools and resources will help you grow your agency and iron out the kinks.

If you’re curious about how I work with agencies or if you’re frustrated with your agency’s profitability or retention of clients or employees, feel free to reach out to me and I’ll see how I can help. I never charge for the first consultation and if I can solve it in 30-minutes, there’s no reason to pay for my services and you walk away happy.
